Breaking Down? Before You Do, Go Break a Plate
Fight Back Before You Break Down
Visualize an empty bottle of catsup as your credit card debts. You won’t toss it lightly against a wall, you’ll hurl it with incredible force; the more bottles you smash, the better you feel after. Unleashing your frustrations by physical force i.e. smashing the bottle with cold deliberation and calculated force with the objective to destruct is a mind over matter stuff that requires ruthless tenacity.
This inspired act is fueled by rage; rage against fear and rage against hopelessness and financial uncertainties. The act purges all the rage and the mind is freed from mental chains and the body is spent. The cathartic effect on body and mind releases the endorphins in the brain; the enemy is vanquished and you feel better, lots better.
But don’t pulverize our collection of glass dolls, travel alarm clocks, engraved business card holder and that lone business card case. These are no empty bottles but your prized possessions.
Bust That Stress!
Recession or shades of it, is a vampire feeding on one’s fear and thousands of average income earners who worry incessantly about their jobs and mortgages are willing victims to this vampire.
Constant worrying about your problems can injure your mental and physical well-being. The pent-up rage has to be rid from your system before any more damage can be inflicted. When stress levels return to normal, you can see things from a positive perspective. True, things look grim, but should you allow it to break you down?
As all things in this world, this blight in the economy will soon pass away. It may take a long time before the economy builds up. But it will change from worse to bad and bounce back to better. You may feel the world may be closing in around you but it is not yet the end of the world. Let go of the anger and frustration and vent it on objects that break and splinter – a ritual of purgation and renewal.
Pulverize, smash, pound, or hammer all those breakables and engage all your senses. Howl if you will or do your rampaging act to ear-splitting furious Metallica rock; demolish TV trays, mugs, and vases but make sure though you got these from rummage sales. Before you run amok, protect yourself from flying glass by using protective gear from head to toe. You cannot waste more of your money at this time on medical sutures.
The Healing Process
Part of the healing process is to admit that you’re partly to blame for your financial difficulties but learn to forgive yourself and learn from this experience. Heaping the blame on the banks, mortgage company and credit card companies will give you a false sense of satisfaction but won’t lead you the core of the issue. Look back and look ahead.
Be patient. Impatience is your worst enemy when you’re trying to get back to the groove of things and the uphill struggle is always the most difficult but at least you’re fighting back not breaking down.
